Remember those great Harvard dining hall conversations?
The ones that started casually, wandered unexpectedly, got smarter as more people joined in, and somehow stayed with you long after the trays were cleared?
We're bringing that spirit back to Austin.
Our first "Dining Hall with Drinks" was a real success — 16 alumni turned out, representing a broad range of Harvard schools, for exactly the kind of lively, wide-ranging conversation we'd hoped for. We're delighted to make it a series.
Join the Harvard Club of Austin for the next installment. These relaxed events are built around good conversation and new connections.
Each month will have a discussion prompt, but you can certainly talk about anything and everything else that interests you!
The discussion prompt for this month is: Does Success Lead to Happiness?
Most of us were trained to chase it — the next degree, the next title, the next milestone. And much of it, we got. But the relationship between ambition and a life well lived turns out to be more complicated than the brochures suggested. Does success deliver the satisfaction it promises, or just relocate the goalposts? Is happiness the reward for achievement, or something that has to be pursued on its own terms? And have our own definitions of "making it" shifted as the years have gone by?
Come ready to share your perspective, hear surprising views from fellow alumni, and enjoy the kind of wide-ranging conversation that made Harvard dining halls so memorable — only this time, with cocktails. This event is free, but RSVP is required here so we can plan accordingly. Drinks and food will be on your own tab.
