Our Club's Purpose

The Harvard Club of Austin has the following five goals:

  1. Build relationships among Harvard alumni, current students, and parents in Central Texas to help them flourish personally and professionally;

  2. Encourage outstanding prospective students to apply to Harvard and support them through conducting alumni interviews and outreach activities; 

  3. Mobilize the Harvard community of Central Texas to improve the lives of the people of the region through volunteer service; 

  4. Connect members with the University and the Harvard Alumni Association; and, 

  5. Advance the educational mission of Harvard University in Central Texas.

Active membership in HCA shall be open to anyone who qualifies under one or more of the following categories:

  1. Any person who has received a degree awarded by Harvard University; 

  2. Any current student presently enrolled in a degree-granting program at Harvard University;

  3. Any person who has received an honorary degree from Harvard University; 

  4. Any current or former member of the faculty or administration of Harvard University; and,

  5. Parents of current undergraduates at Harvard (upon graduation of their children, parents will remain eligible). 

Our club hosts a variety of member-supported social and educational events each year, ensuring that we offer events to suit to the diverse interests of our members. We actively engage in a service project each spring to give back to the Central Texas community. We regularly team up with other local alumni groups for happy hours, sporting events, and other social outings to supplement our club's programs. And, we encourage our members to stay involved and host or support activities that interest them.

Our Schools Committee interviews Central Texas applicants to Harvard College and organizes events for incoming students to learn about Harvard and connect with fellow students before heading to Cambridge. The Schools Committee depends on a network of alumni volunteers to conduct these interviews each year.
