Alumni Talk: Founding and Managing Non-profits

Harvard Club Event

Interested in nonprofit management? Steven Jackobs ’79, founding Executive Director of Capital IDEA, will share lessons learned from his experiences starting and running a nonprofit in Austin. Capital IDEA lifts low-earning adults into high-paying careers by sponsoring them through a community college degree. It has received numerous awards, including the 2012 Bank of America Neighborhood Builder Award and the 2007 Ernst and Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year prize. Steve is especially proud that Capital IDEA has received recognition from both the Austin Chamber of Commerce (2007 Architect of Ideas) and Liveable City (2006 Vision Award). Join us for his presentation and open discussion to follow.
