Our Club's Purpose
The goals of the Harvard Club of Austin are:
- To provide our members opportunities for service, educational, and social activities;
- To encourage and recognize academic achievement among Central Texas high school students; and
- To help Harvard attract highly qualified applicants to the College and Graduate Schools by increasing awareness of Harvard in Central Texas and by assisting in the admissions process.
Our club hosts a variety of member-supported social and educational events each year, ensuring that we offer events to suit to the diverse interests of our members. We actively engage in a service project each spring to give back to the central Texas community. We regularly team up with other local alumni groups for happy hours, sporting events, and other social outings to supplement our club's programs. And, we encourage our members to stay involved and host or support activities that interest them.
Our Schools Committee interviews every Central-Texan applicant to Harvard College and organizes events for incoming students to learn about Harvard and connect with fellow students before heading to Cambridge. The Schools Committee depends on a network of alumni volunteers to conduct these interviews each year.
